[Media Invite] Roy Thai Kitchen at 106 Hougang Ave 1

Recently i found so many good foods at hawker center which is of course come in very friendly pocket price. Few weeks ago i’ve got invited to try new menu and signature dishes from Roy Thai Kitchen which is located at Hougang 106 Food Point Coffeeshop.
Apparently, their stall is pretty wellknown by the neighbourhood there.

Thai-Style Coconut Soup w/ Chicken (Tom Kah Gai)
[Price $12 – Big]
This soup looks harmless than the common red tomyum soup, but don’t play play with this soup, it’s actually quite spicy. The soup is quite thick, with dominant sour and spicy flavour and the chicken meat came in chunks. It’s actually one of my favourite thai soup which somehow i found it’s much better than the red tom yum soup.

[NEW] Thai-Style fried chicken with Mango Salad
[Price: $10 per portion]

This is one of their new menu, the chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy inside and the fresh mango salad added flavour to the fried chicken, it’s kind of refreshing dishes i must say.

Deep Fried Fish with Special Sauce
[Price: $22 per portion]

Always love the fish dishes. This fried fish is so good. Crispy fish with rich sweet and sour sauce.
The fish meat seems like quite fresh and very sweet. Apparently the stall owner said that they bought the fresh frozen fish (fish got frozen when it just caught to ensure the freshness), which has better quality than the fresh fish on market which already left for few days.

[NEW] Thai-Style flower Clams with Thai Sauce & Basil
[Price: $10 onwards]
Not a fan of clams family, so i only tried the sauce. It’s very fragrant with sweet and sour flavour.

Green Curry Fried Rice
[Price: $5 per portion]

I wish that the fried rice come with more things inside. And i also found that the texture a bit too dry need a slight improvement. But overall it’s quite decent and tasty.

Thai-Style Homemade Prawn Cakes
[Price: $10 for 5pcs]

One of my favourite from tasting. The prawn is fresh, succulent and very sweet. But the texture a little bit too soft in my opinion.
After tried it myself, i can say it’s definetely worth the visit. The taste is quite authentic and the food served were really good.
Thai Style Sukiyaki Glass Noodle Soup
[Price: $5 per portion (comes in dry version too)]
My another favourite if you need comforting food. The soup flavour is very fragrant, tasty, sweet, with dominant sour flavour.
This is one of people’s favourite for take away.

Came with glass noodles, prawns, egg and vegetables.

Thank you Roy Thai Kitchen (@roythaikitchen) for having us and @eatwithroy for arranging the tasting.
