[Media Tasting] Spicy Thai Thai Cafe – Part Two –

Happy to be invited to visit Spicy Thai Thai Cafe for some of their special seasonal new menus and their signature dishes. Still remember few months ago, i also post about my first food tasting at this place, you can read the part one here.
So here we go, be prepared, cause all of this photograph will make you drooling.. Yum!
Fish Maw Crab Meat Abalone Soup in Coconut
Who doesn’t love the brilliant combo of fish maw, crab meat with abalone in the soup? A popular dish among soup lovers, we added a little twist to steam it with coconut flesh and serve it in coconut husk for that extra fragrance.
Price – S$28.00
This comforting entree is good start during tasting session. The soup is so tasty and savoury, it’s light and everything are just nice. Fish maw, crab meat and abalone made this dish so special. This is one of my hubby favourite during the food tasting.

Stir-fry Fish Maw, Crab Meat & Bean Sprouts
Ditch your usual Thai mango/papaya salad, go with this new refreshing starter.
Price – S$18.00

First, i thought this looks like fried kway teow, but it’s actually stir-fry fish maw slices. Well, basically i like the texture of fish maw which is very chewy, love the idea to create this dish, it’s very light compare to normal carbo stuff like noodles etc.
Deep Fried Sea Bass with Mango Salad
Crispy skin, tender flesh. Scrumptious with the ever-refreshing, appetizing Thai mango/ lemongrass salad.
Price – Seasonal

Ah, this is one of our favourite too. So far, we always find sea bass is seared or pan fried, but served as deep fried is also not so bad, something new. We love how crispy the fish on the surface but the meat inside is still very juicy like sea bass usual character. And the combination with mango salad is truly refreshing experience to enjoy this deep fried seabass.

Thai Style Curry Crab

This classic dish is unique in Thai cuisine, as it is prepared with curry powder, oyster sauce, nam prik pao, white pepper, egg, fresh chillies, Chinese celery and fresh milk unlike our usual chilli crab.
Price – Seasonal
Well, it’s another favourite dish for us. Who doesn’t like crab?! It’s really troublesome fun to eat crab, lol! We really can’t stop enjoying the gravy, which is very rich and tasty, i can even have the gravy with rice only. But if it’s probably served with warm fried mantou will be better.

BBQ Japanese Squid

Japanese squid has a ‘sweeter’ taste and more tender texture compared to the local ones. To be able to enjoy this the BBQ way is pretty phenomenal and makes it almost impossible to pass by without having one.

Price – Seasonal

Forget about cholesterol level, this japanese squid is very yummy and succulent, had this with their special chilli. I always imagine to have this with warm rice.
Tom Yum Seafood Fried Rice
When first trying this, i was wondering whether the rice is sticky rice, because it does taste a bit like sticky rice, perhaps because the texture of rice itself. The tom yum flavour not as strong as expected, perhaps you can have this with other dishes too. The fragrant smell that i really feel is more towards the citrus leaf flavour.

Price – usual single person portion is $6.00

BBQ Pork Belly
A very flavourful snack or dish with fatty skin that is so sinful but hard to resist, and tender meat that is juicy and yummy.
Price – S$18.00

Indeed is very sinful to have pork belly.. But when i tried it, the meat is really tender with some crisp on burning edges. I still don’t dare to eat the fatty part though. The chilli is combination of sweet and sour, perfect for this type of BBQ.

Stir Fry Sweet Potato Leaves

Again, this is one of my favourite too, i love veggies and i love sweet potato leaves. This is a very humble and simple dish, but i like it. It looks harmless, but it’s actually pretty spicy, perhaps due to existence of those red chillies.
Stir Fry Basil, Minced Meat & Long Beans
This is the most basic Thai dish but many places do not do it right, it has to come with lots of fresh Thai basil. (on photo: the most left)
Price – S$10.00
This is my favourite too, lol, so many favourite during this media tasting. But this classic recipe of Thai dish is really yummy, indeed! The fresh basil plays part to give strong flavour into dish and the long beans are super crunchy, i like! More yummy if you had this with warm rice and fried egg.

Deep Fried Kang Kong with Special Thai Sauce
Price – $10.00

When you love fried and crunchy stuff, then this dish is for you. At first i thought it looks like deep fried spinach, didn’t expect that this turns out as deep fried kang kong. I can’t stop eating this and had this with their special sour and sweet sauce.

Lala Bee Hoon
Price – $18.00

I’ve reviewed this on my previous post, you can read here. But this time round the bee hoon comes with a lot of Lala and the pepper taste stronger than previous one.
Hommok (Thai Style Otak)

Price – $18.00

I’ve reviewed this on my previous post, you can read here. This is one of my favourite dish from Spicy Thai Thai, the taste is so rich and savoury, love how they mixed seafood stuff with fresh coconut flesh.
