[Media Invite] KOKOMAMA Marketplace at SOTA

So, i got invited by @ighutdotcom for food tasting at new hype place in town.
KOKOMAMA Marketplace is a hip fusion cafe that sells different varieties of food and beverages – french bakery, chilli crab/curry/clam chowder bread bowls, rice bowls, coffee (latte etc), traditional kopi/ teh and dessert such as waffles and korean bingsu. And also affordable bread for people to take away! KOKOMAMA aims encompass the ideal to-go-to marketplace for a good bite. In an effort to continue the legacy of the former tenant, a french bakery, KOKOMAMA carried on selling french pastries in addition to creating their own dishes that goes beyond the baker’s barrier.

Conveniently situated in the heart of Singapore at Dhoby Ghaut, where it is housed at the Singapore School of the Arts (SOTA) building. An adventurous business by the Chew siblings behind 77th Street, KOKOMAMA aims to present a wide range of international fusion dishes to Singaporean palate, and hence, the “Market Place”.

Blueberry Drink

Greeted by this Blueberry drink when i reached this place. This drink is more like a syrup, not too sweet, but so refreshing, garnished with fresh blueberry and mint.

SIGNATURE CROISSANTS: KOKOLAVA

Baked with high quality flour from Europe, KOKOLAVA croissants have the satisfying crisp and fragrance. Take a bite and out oozes the rich and savoury “lava” to sensationalise your tastebuds! There are three tantalising fills to be spoiled for choice over: SALTED EGG, PEANUT, and CUSTARD, each distinct and just as satisfying.

Croissant! Peanut Butter Croissant, Custard Croissant and Salted Egg Croissant

I love French croissant a lot, it reminded me about my trip to Paris. And I was so happy to have my virgin tasting for highly raved Salted Egg Croissant. The croissant made freshly daily and the filling is very generous. The Peanut Butter Croissant is my second choice after Salted Egg because the filling so creamy. Yum!
The Custard Croissant is not so bad, but i feel that the custard flavour too light. Maybe my taste bud preferred something more creamy and thick, it’s really depend on your preference.

Melted Salted Egg Croissant, so yum!!!

FUSION PIZZAS

KOKOMAMA added a touch of Singapore’s local flavours to our beloved flatbread and birthed the genius Chili Crab and Salted Egg Pizzas!

Salted Egg Pizza, Chili Crab Pizza and Smoked Duck Pizza

Pizza topping with generous mozarella cheese on top of the fresh baguette. The baguette is very crispy and soft inside. Within this 3 flavour, my favourite goes to Smoked Duck, the smoked duck meat are very succulent and juicy. The Chili Crab Pizza is slightly spicy and having a lot of crab meat. I wish that the Salted Egg Pizza have strong salted egg flavour. Overall, the pizza serving is very generous, 1 pizza should be able to share for 2 pax.

Salted Egg Spaghetti
I wish that this Spaghetti came during first few round when food served, because i ate too much croissant and the creamy filling.
I really like this spaghetti, it’s so yummy! Love the chewy al-dente texture of spaghetti mixed well with creamy salted egg sauce and prawns, served with mushroom soup and garlic bread. Again, the portion is really decent.
Never come in my mind that “ang moh jiak” can be localized like this way..

Comes with curry leaves too, it’s truly localized.

BINGSU

Nothing like a bowl of ice to beat the heated weather in Singapore. KOKOMAMA spawned 2 hot favourite flavours, the MATCHA CRAZE and MANGO MADNESS!

Matcha Bingsu
Yay! It’s dessert time!

First desert is Matcha Bingsu. Who doesn’t like bingsu? This Korean dessert so happening everywhere and KOKOMAMA have it too..
The matcha powder is really strong you can feel the matcha a bit bitter, but like it this way! Topped with my favourite matcha ice cream, the milky shaved ice (bingsu) on the bottom is very light and soft.

Mango Bingsu

You see the colour looks very refreshing, that how does it taste too. Yes! This Mango Bingsu is one of my favourite from this food tasting beside Salted Egg Spaghetti and Croissant. It comes with chunks of fresh mango and yummy mango flaour ice cream and again the bingsu base is very light and soft.

Yogurt Bingsu

Another dessert of the day is Yogurt Bingsu, the appearance is definitely insta-worthy. It’s like the “healthy” version of Bingsu, come with fresh strawberry and banana. I wish that the ice cream is yogurt flavour not strawberry one, because dominant strawberry flavour causing the yogurt flavour gone. It would be better if the yogurt flavour more strong so must be a bit sourish. I am a fan of sour yogurt, haha..

I will definetely coming back for my favourite Salted Egg Spaghetti, Salted Egg Croissant and their Mango Bingsu.
Thank you so much IG Hut (@ighutdotcom) and KOKOMAMA Marketplace for opportunity to try the signature dishes.
